"The Russian story of "Little Snow Girl" is one where there is the pure young girl being hunted by various creatures who want to eat her. She was made from the last spring snow and the first spring sun, on the heartfelt wish of a sterile old couple who lived in the woods. The original story itself is cute, and innocent for the most part. The little snow girl is pure and innocent, but learns quickly how evil the creatures of the forest can be before she's rescued by her trusty old dog. In my depiction, the all-too-pure main character, is not as pure as one would think and has her way with handling the "evils" of the forest." -Sly Cooley

BIOGRAPHY
Sly Cooley was born from two worlds, an all-American one and a superstitious Filipino one. Although there was not much in terms of visual art within her childhood, there was almost, an overabundance of folk stories, urban legends, and superstitious tales. Stories, she learned, were best told with pictures. It is that little bit of "truth" that inspired her to work more and more leading her away from her two worlds in one family to find her own world in the Northwest. Sly Cooley now has a BFA from Northwest College of Art and is part of Better Friends Collective.

Fish Fry at Greenwood!

If you guys weren't around for the Fish Fry over at the Band Vibes x Better Friends show space, you missed out on fun! Not to mention I sold a peice to the sweetest couple! Progress.

The begining...,

The start to my new painting for the holiday bizarre at the greenwood collective this Friday. "Little Snow Girl" based off a Russian folktale of a girl made from the snow of spring and warmed from the sun of spring.

Nolonger just bags

Louis Vuitton and Kanye went under the sheets and out came the sneaks! I'm pretty sure these will cost a pretty penny and no doubt have already sold in Japan. I hardly have the bag envy that so many girls do- but these sneakers have my utmost attention. Needless to say, if I had more of a disposable income, I'd really want to make the high top with the pink sole mine. Check the others at BKRW.

peice of cake

I've been working on the infamous Couch Tour for this summer- and it took up a little lot bit of time. You won't be getting a preview yet, but let's just say it's gonna make me happy when it finally gets here. Although I will say that while I (and Harvey) worked around the clock to make magic happen, I still found time to make a cake.


And then destroy it :)
