"The Russian story of "Little Snow Girl" is one where there is the pure young girl being hunted by various creatures who want to eat her. She was made from the last spring snow and the first spring sun, on the heartfelt wish of a sterile old couple who lived in the woods. The original story itself is cute, and innocent for the most part. The little snow girl is pure and innocent, but learns quickly how evil the creatures of the forest can be before she's rescued by her trusty old dog. In my depiction, the all-too-pure main character, is not as pure as one would think and has her way with handling the "evils" of the forest." -Sly Cooley

BIOGRAPHY
Sly Cooley was born from two worlds, an all-American one and a superstitious Filipino one. Although there was not much in terms of visual art within her childhood, there was almost, an overabundance of folk stories, urban legends, and superstitious tales. Stories, she learned, were best told with pictures. It is that little bit of "truth" that inspired her to work more and more leading her away from her two worlds in one family to find her own world in the Northwest. Sly Cooley now has a BFA from Northwest College of Art and is part of Better Friends Collective.

Louis Vuitton and Kanye went under the sheets and out came the sneaks! I'm pretty sure these will cost a pretty penny and no doubt have already sold in Japan. I hardly have the bag envy that so many girls do- but these sneakers have my utmost attention. Needless to say, if I had more of a disposable income, I'd really want to make the high top with the pink sole mine. Check the others at BKRW.

I've been working on the infamous Couch Tour for this summer- and it took up a little lot bit of time. You won't be getting a preview yet, but let's just say it's gonna make me happy when it finally gets here. Although I will say that while I (and Harvey) worked around the clock to make magic happen, I still found time to make a cake.

And then destroy it :)

I know it's been some time, but sometimes life happens and one cannot interrupt to have a sit down to blog about it. well, enough of that petty excuse. Here's a bunch of random photos that explain my absence.

I also got to go to Minnesota to see the bus I designed first hand! My boss-awesomes (Karyn & Stu) made it a surprise!

Rocktember: I did up the anime graphics and the sweet, sweet van graphics (yes, lightning bolts!- I'll get the most radical animal collage on here later).

Kris P., Matt Harvey (Blue Steelberg), Jordan H. (JoBenHo), and Stu (HaraStuku).

Hella Reppin': Clayton (gettin sprayed), (don't remember Mickey guy's name), Erik, and Luke (the sprayer).

Benchin' it: Peter Line, Louie Vito, a Zumiez Manager?, and Blue Montgomery.

Some life-size cut outs of my anime characters- Rick is the Pres. of Zumiez, Couch is our bud, and Tom is our founder.

Vantastic!: Jamie Davis and one of the Warriors chillin' in the back of the camper van.

And then ofcourse, the infamous biggest project for me ever- Zumiez 100K. Check Transworld's cover of it for now. I'll post some of my own favs later (I promise!).

So between those 3 events- some intense work action. I've also got some other things but we'll see what my brain can recall later.

i know i haven't posted in *forever* ....but here's a start and i'll post with pictures why later....

so, by no means do i think of myself as a hater. i'm sure that there are good intentions here and good for Aesop getting his- but this might lead to some serious sell-out. I mean, Atmosphere on MTV and Jay Leno one thing ( I can't help it, I've been a fan since day 1) but now product? Are we really going to go as far as to reach every single lust of the underground kid and then make him a sneakerhead as well? I may be hating, whatever. I'm just in denial that nothing is underground anymore; every aspect of everything has it's part in the mass media (reality tv...about everything). I guess i'll just shut up and let you lust after the shoe that'll no doubt be the collector's item for all you sell-outs (including myself ofcourse).

ps. for those in Seattle, watch for that walrus from across the Columbia.

so I totally am in love with Hellz Bellz- if i were rollin in some bank, maybe i could cop the entire line. but there's something i'm definately holding out for- The Vicious Bellz jacket- I couldn't help but notice that Nikita's (another fave brand) Allspice Jacket looks a tad similar ...either way, i want'em both!

check the awsomeness that is Rocksmith. they're makin' sure the 80's stay alive for sure with the graphic tees that are reminiscent of the some hair band's concert tee. Though, they're more know for their windbreakers right now.

we probably all noticed the southwest trend of bold shapes and lines such as the image to the right from urban outfitters. Loads of brands are picking up this trend. However, there's only one brand that comes to mind that's picking up the other southwest "thing" that most people either don't know about, or have tired to forget about (that would be me at age 12). But I'm super stoked on the majesty that is WOWCH. they are takin' the t-shirts my dad loves to wear (they can be found everywhere in New Mexico- most notably in truck stops..) and make them ridiculously awesome beyond words. for example, take a look at the way eric does it up...

While the items are hot themselves, it seems the models make them hotter! weird how the brand is a MEN'S apparel company. It's official- the first post (of hopefully many) to my first ever blog. High school kids have already done it- so now at 23, it's finally happening for me.
